California English Language Development Test (CELDT)

What is CELDT?
Beginning fall of 2001, school districts across the state of California began administering the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) to all English Learner (EL) Students.

The purpose of CELDT:
  1. NCLB Title III Accountability through Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAO)
  2. To identify student levels of English proficiency for appropriate English Language Development (ELD) placement
  3. To monitor annual progress of each student's English proficiency
  4. To reclassify EL students from English Learner (EL) to Fluent English-Proficient (FEP)
How can Key Data Systems help?
Sanford Systems has developed several services to help district administrators manage and maintain their CELDT data.

These services include:
  • AMAO Estimates
  • Movement analysis of CELDT Proficiency levels from year to year
  • Multiple assessment correlations using California Standards Test (CST), and local assessment information
