In order to assist districts in ensuring the accuracy of the data used in the high-stakes indices, Key Data Systems offers the following services:
Pre-Identification services
Key Data Systems' Pre-Identification service covers various California State assessments including STAR, CAHSEE, CELDT, and Physical Education assessments. Key Data Systems specializes in working with California assessment data and has formulated a systematic, error-resistant process for compiling your PreID file.
The Pre-ID service involves the following steps:
- Compile a profile of the data requirements for the district
- Obtain the district data (This typically involves the district providing Key Data Systems, Inc., with a data file or files containing the required data)
- Perform an extensive review of the data in order to ensure the data is complete, valid, and internally consistent
- Provide school and district level verification reports to the district in order to confirm the accuracy of the compiled data prior to submission to the testing company
- Submit the pre-identification file to the testing company
Because Key Data Systems provides verification reports to the district prior to submission, any anomalies that are found can be investigated and corrected, further ensuring the accuracy of the data.
Data Cleaning services
Key Data Systems' Data Cleaning service involves working directly with the district to review and improve the accuracy of the data in their student information system. Due to the fact that not all districts store their data in the same ways, the steps involved in the Data Cleaning service are tailored to best meet the needs of the individual districts.
- Data Cleaning begins with the district providing Key Data Systems the data from the district's student information system.
- Once this data is received Key Data Systems will review the data for completeness, validity, and consistency.
- The results of this review are presented to the district for correction in the student information system.
- Data Cleaning service may also involve selecting a statistical sample of students and comparing the contents of their cumulative files to what is in the student information system.
It is impossible to overstate the importance of having accurate district demographic data, due to the cost of correcting data that is used in the computation of high-stakes indices (i.e., AYP, API and AMAO). Key Data Systems is proud to offer these services to your district.
